Farmers gain Federal help to insure against drought and flooding rains

DROUGHTS and flooding rains, fire, pests and disease, have long been the enemy of farmers, but now a major attempt to help them insure against the vagaries of farming has been welcomed by the sector and supported by the Federal Government.

The Federal Government this week announced a $20 million funding program to help about 8000 farmers participate in the program by covering half the setup costs, up to a maximum of $2500.
